Refunded or Canceled orders showing as Unfulfilled

I am trying to get rid of the unfulfilled status of an order that was partially refunded. How is this still an issue? Refunding or cancelling an order should trigger a new status. Yes the product has not been fulfilled hence the unfulfilled state but forcing it to stay as unfulfilled instead of it changing to "refunded or cancelled" is a pretty big coding flaw. Is this obvious issue being looked at by anyone at all? Store owners would like very much to not have notifications for "unfulfilled" orders which should actually be marked as "refunded/cancelled" orders. Each time I log in or look at the app there should not be little numbers looking back at me for items that are not on the waiting to be fulfilled list.

It is not intuitive for me to know to mark an item which is not going to be fulfilled as "fulfilled" before I refund or cancel. That is a really poor way to handle refunded and cancelled orders.

Again, I ask is something being done about this issue that has many complaints from paying customers?

Simply add a "refunded/cancelled" status. It really is a simple fix that you all don't seem to care about seeing as though this thread was started in 2016 and the problem still exists today in 2019.

Not that we can tell. Shopify believe the filter/search workaround fixes it. They don’t understand how annoying it is to see the badge/number next to the ‘orders’ link on the left, not to mention the yellow badge in the list. Some retailers run a messy business so don’t notice/care. But those of us who run a tight ship or have staff think it’s obviously ridiculous.

This seems like it should be a simple fix for Shopify. And I have to agree, while this might be Shopify's intended behavior, it's a major miss from what your end users and customers actually need the product to do. The isn't one of these issues that's a special request based on a a  small number of users personal workflows - I can't imagine any customer actually wanting their store to perform this way, this seems like an easy win for Shopify to show their listening to their customers needs.

 

Like the above I just had to cancel an order for the first time and I can't get rid or the unfulfilled status which is just crazy, which wouldn't be such a big issue except that Shopify uses unfulfilled to notify the store owner that they have a task they have to perform. Except in the case of a canceled order you font. But it still says you do. So you have to ignore it. Which means we can't rely on the unfilled icon and app notification to see if we have orders that need tending, we have to open the store and go through the list.

As far as I can tell there's still no solution from Shopify, just a suggested workaround from users?

Is there anyone at Shopify that actually has any real world experience of online retail management? This gaping shortcoming suggests not.

Sadly, it's not clear. We have a bunch of small issues across Shopify and the POS app that cause confusion or frustrate end-customers. They're not sexy features so probably don't get priority for that reason sorry.

 

A cancelled order doesn't require fulfilling, you'd think a specialist e-com platform would fix it ASAP out of pride. It's embarrassing.

We took a bunch of pre-orders 6 weeks ago but because the unfulfilled badge displays incorrect info (see attached), staff, who have now learnt to ignore that badge, missed some orders.

 

Yes, if the orders list was filtered by unfulfilled, it's likely those orders would not have been missed. But after 25 years training staff and systemising businesses, INCORRECT INFO ALWAYS CREATES CONFUSION - ALWAYS!

 

So many people have pointed out this UI/UX bug, for the love of God, fix it.

I will add my voice here - totally mad to have cancelled or refunded orders showing as "unfulfilled". 

 

Shopify you need to sort this out.

The easiest solution in the existing system to me is to simply archive the order.  I currently have 7 unfulfilled orders, but 2 of them are refunded.  When I archive the two refunded orders it now only shows that I have 5 orders left to fulfill and the number next to orders in the left menu also only shows as 5.  

 

I agree with everyone about needing the different statuses, but for now this works for us.
