The shopify store that I am building is registered and taxed in Washington State of the United States. However, we will be renting gear to travelers going to Antarctica, by boat, from a port in South America. All transactions will be done through the website, thus, charged in USD and taxed in this state. It truly is a "virtual Store".
My question is, will Shopify payments still accept foreign credit cards? I have read that Shopify Payments only works in certain countries.. but technically this store is registered in USA.
Can someone please help to shine some light on this? Please advise if you need any more details to assess my current situation.

Karlie here from the Shopify Guru Team! If you're using Shopify Payments from the US, then you can put through transactions worldwide. Shopify Payments allows you to accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, Discover, and Diners Club debit/credit cards.
If you're looking to sell from the United States to someone from a different country, then you're charged a 1% cross-border fee on all sales made with a credit card issued in another country due to the card being international.
I would highly recommend reading though our Shopify Payments FAQ guide, here, for more information and details when using Shopify Payments. I would also recommend following our set up guide, here, to see how to use Shopify Payments and what details you need before enabling the payment gateway.
I hope this has answered your question. If not, or if you have any further questions please let me know. I will be happy to help!
