Is it possible to not include the declared value when calculating shipping rates with UPS? My company products are in the $1000-2000 range and when the shipping rate is calculated it automatically adds insurance which makes the shipping cost much more money.
We have very good luck with UPS and in the past four years have only had packages lost/damaged twice so we don't use the declared value in order to save our customer/dealers money.
I'm not too sure about this one. I'll need to take a look at your specific site's setup to see what might be in play here, and the shop URL attached to your profile brings up a shop that's unavailable. Would you be able to let me know your current site URL so I can take a closer look?

The declared value is an optional field so it should not be populated by default if you are shipping with Shopify. The only reason i can see this happening is if Shopify's shipments are automatically insured. If that is the case, you may have to approach their support for this.
However, if you are looking to provide insurance as a configurable option(based on your requirement, you can switch it off or on), then you can opt for the Multi carrier Shipping label app. With this, you can choose to select whether you want insurance on your shipments or not.
