When an order is placed on Shopify we receive the order via webhooks into our system.
Later we find out some items cannot be fulfilled...what is the process to inform the customer and reflect this in the order?
The API says the order cannot be updated, which makes sense as we want to track intent :
> After an order is created, you can change only a few of its attributes using the API. You cannot change the items or the quantities in an order.
We have auto charge disabled so we are able to use the API to only capture the correct amount for the items we are able to ship.
We have used fulfillments APIs to show which items we can fulfil, but that still leaves unfulfilled items in the order.
How can we mark this so its clear they are not getting some items?
