500 response when fetching Orders data

I am receiving 500 response when trying to fetch for orders data for a certain store.

Request:

admin/api/2019-04/orders.json?limit=250&since_id=0&created_at_min=2019-04-23 22:47:13&status=any& headers : X-Shopify-Access-Token=****

I am getting

Status Code:500

Response message:

{"errors":"Internal Server Error"}

for this request.

Request Time in PDT:

What is the cause of the error and please suggest a solution for this.If it is an issue ,Please fix the issue as soon as possible.

Hi @Eni8,

 

Can you share the X-Request-ID response header received from Shopify on one of these requests? If you don't have this then I would at least need to know which app is encountering these issues.

 

In this case it's very likely that these queries are timing out due to a high offset and many search parameters.  We are also deprecating searches like these and moving towards pagination via cursor.

 

I would recommend simply re-trying the queries, as sometimes they do time out.  If your app cannot handle intermittent errors such as these, then perhaps swapping pagination methods is the best solution.

Hi @Ryan,

Thank you for your response, Our app retries the same query 5 times if there is such an error. But the problem is that we are receiving 500 responses each time. The request was invoked again today and the same error occurred

Hi again,

 

I can confirm that all three of these requests did time out.  Unfortunately with the move away from page pagination, and resources being more controlled for these type of requests the only solution would be to reduce the total complexity of the query or move to one of the other pagination types.
