Access denied even with full permissions

Hey there,

I'm building out a private app for our store on Shopify. Currently I'm able to query our store and push mutations no problem. Except for when I add 'publishedOnPublication' to my query. I get an 'access denied' error.

url: `https://123456789:123456789@test-site.myshopify.com/admin/api/2020-01/graphql.json`

query {
                inventoryItem(id: "gid://shopify/InventoryItem/1234567890") {
                  variant {
                  id
                  product {
                    publishedOnPublication(publicationId: "gid://shopify/Publication/12345678")
                    }
                  }
                }
              }

I have complete read/write access on every single Admin API Permission. I don't understand why I'm getting an "access denied" error specifically for the "publishedOnPublication" query.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

The scope you need permission for is: read_publications

This scope is only available via public apps currently (so this will not work in a private app).

You could the use new "custom app" feature in the partners dashboard, but you will still have to set up the oAuth authentication.

I believe you can request to get this scope on a private app by submitting a ticket here.
