Eddy - what's your specific issue?

Anything that you are going to push into Shopify with be via the API. There's no direct database access.

Jason,

Problem - Sales staff sending emails and adding customer info.

I am looking for a way to send email and have a custom database table to store data. The problem is as follows: we have sales staff who sell customised products, e.g. a pen with business logo on. They need to be able to store a customers email address and email the details of the pen to the customer. They want to use the shopify site to add contact details, and email details of the order.

The sales staff will not have shopify administrator accounts, just normal shopify customer accounts. The sales staff want to be able to add customer details and send them a custom email.

Stash Data:

I know of these ways to stash data. But possible solutions look messy, also the problem of sending email to an unregistered email address.

  • metafields (nice and hidden)
  • pages (easy to edit html data)
  • blog posts (can dedicate a whole blog to custom data articles, also easy to edit html)
  • link lists (good for short chunks of data that should appear in order.)
  • tags (less common for general data)

Based on this:

The problem is as follows: we have sales staff who sell customised products, e.g. a pen with business logo on. I would look into Draft Orders. You would create app that the Sales Staff use, that in turn creates draft orders. Once it's a draft order you can then share the checkout url with whoever you like.
