Importing products with multiple currency via Shopify REST API

Anybody have experience with currency and the Shopify REST API?

We are importing product data that is in CAD to a USD Shopify store.
We tried setting the presentment_prices to include the CAD price. But it shows on the Shopify store as a USD.
For example:
  1. Product A - $100 CAD
  2. We import it via the API with presentment_prices: [{price: {"currency_code":"CAD","amount":"100.00"}}]
  3. But on the Shopify site the product is priced as $100 USD

Any way to this without coverting rates ourselves?

Hey @allymenan,

When using the sell in multiple currencies feature, Shopify automatically converts the product price from the shop currency to the customer's currency. Since the conversion always starts with the shop currency, you'll need to import products using the shop currency.

If your intention is to have Shopify store the price in CAD but have customers purchase in USD, have you considered switching the shop's currency to CAD? If the shop's currency is CAD, the USD rate presented to customers will reflect the conversion rate for that day, so you can ensure you're always receiving the CAD equivalent. Otherwise you'll need to convert the prices to USD before import.

We are syncing in products from a Shopify CAD store to a Shopify USD store. On the USD store there is already products with prices in USD.

Ideally we want to import the products with USD, automatically converted from CAD.

Does that make more sense?
