Inconsistency on currency formatting with EUR

Hello,

We have detected an inconsistency in the way prices are formatted in stores using EUR.

When the store currency is EUR, the {{amount_no_decimals}} format does not work as specified at https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/payments/currency-formatting#currency-formatting-options

Instead, it works as the {{amount_no_decimals_with_comma_separator}} format.

To see the problem in action, you can compare the following two stores.

In the first one at https://test-euro-and-decimals.myshopify.com/products/test-product, with currency format {{amount}}, the thousands separator is correctly displayed as a comma:

However, in the second store at https://test-euro-and-no-decimals.myshopify.com/products/test-product, where the currency format is {{amount_no_decimals}}, the thousands separator is incorrectly displayed as a dot:

We would be grateful if you could report this issue to the appropriate team. Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

  Jose

This is an accepted solution.

Hey there,

Thanks for the report! Currency formatting can be pretty tricky, especially when it comes to EUR since different countries with the same currency can have different formatting.

There has been some work put into currency formatting recently with our multi-currency project and efforts to be more compatible with international merchants, so hopefully this can be addressed as a part of that. Consider this reported, and thanks again!

EUR prices still show the thousand separator as a dot instead of a comma when using this format.

Has this still not been fixed 2 years after?
