Just started a new shopify story - looking forward to learn as well as add to the community.
I am facing challenges with linking the Payment gateway - to start we are using Paypal Express Checkout. Shopify's automatic link with Paypal isn't working. So decided to follow this - https://developer.paypal.com/docs/classic/admin/third-party/
Am setting it up manually.
Paypal is asking for the Third Party Permission username.
What should we insert there - we are a store based out of India.

You shouldn't need any API integration with PayPal Express checkout. You only need API integration with PayPal Payments Pro or there Merchant feature.
It should be quite simple to set up PayPal Express by:
Going to Shopify admin, go to Settings > Payment providers.
Select PayPal Express Checkout from the drop down menu
Enter you username and password
On the PayPal permissions page, click I Give Permission.
Then try a test transaction.

I figured there is a problem with Shopify - and found a solution on the Paypal forum (https://www.paypal-community.com/t5/Sandbox-Environment/Shopify-Payment-problem/m-p/1516928#M4299 ) - still need to check the payment.
There is a bug in Shopify or Paypal - instead of going ahead to complete setup - need to click Return to shopify.
That is when it links up!
Have you tried opening the Shopify admin in an Incognito window and initiate the PayPal connection from there? If not I recommend giving that a try. If you're still having issues, you can contact our live support and they can walk you through getting that connected.

Refer this to Paypal - I read this and fixed it.
I have same issue. I have a Paypal Business account but everytime i go to activate on Shopify its wanting to create biz account and then says there is error
