We fulfill all orders automatically through API, including the gift card orders. We have an issue where orders are merchandise + gift card. We have chosen to "do not automatically fulfill any of the order's line items" from the setting.
Now, the API call works fine when there is only a gift card order. It fulfills and sends a digital gift card in email right after updating its fulfillment status. However, in the case of Merchant + Gift Card orders, it updates the fulfillment status to "Partially Fulfilled", but the system does not generate a gift card and no email goes to the customer. For your reference, here are the request and response calls we make & receives.
