SellingPlanGroupCreate access denied? Shopify GraphiQL App

I have been trying to use the Subscription API to create subscription products. I was hoping to just use Shopify GraphiQL App for this.

But I am getting "SellingPlanGroupCreate access denied" with the sample queries. All of the access scopes are selected.

Is this not possible? Do I need to make my own app to do this?

Hi @jackrhumphrey ,

Welcome to the community forums.

The short answer is yes, you need to create these objects through your own app.

There are a few reasons for this, but the main one is the GraphiQL App is just a tool that queries the API, it does not do all the other ‘appy’ things that are required for Subscription products. (Specifically, the app needs to monitor the contracts and send the billing request at the appropriate time).

Check out the table in this tutorial for more information:

Hi there,

We are trying the new APIs via our own app on our own development shop. We're also getting the SellingPlanGroupCreate access denied error.

We have all appropriate scopes enabled via Oauth, as documented in the tutorials and API docs.

Where could we look that might be it?
