Shopify Amazon fulfillment integration order customization

Does anyone know if there is a way to customize either the order ID or the text that is printed on the packing slip when sending orders to Amazon using Shopify's built-in Amazon fulfillment functionality through the API? I am working with a Shopify app that sends orders from Google Shopping Actions into Shopify to be fulfilled, as though they were placed directly on the Shopify store. The trouble is that my items are fulfilled by Amazon (using Shopify's built-in Amazon integration). There is a specific order ID for the Google order, but with this setup, that order ID does not get sent to Amazon to be printed on the packing slip, only Shopify's order ID does. This is not an order number that the customer would recognize, since it's not the number they received from Google. So I am trying to figure out a way to pass the Google order ID along to Amazon, either as the order ID itself, or just as another string of text to be printed in the customizable text section of the packing slip. Is there any way to make that work?

Please note, that when submitting products to Google Shopping Actions you must follow the Google Shopping policies. And that submitting products you do not stock in your warehouse is a policy violation and will eventually get your account suspended.

I know this is not asked, but just wanted to give you a headsup before you spend too much of your money to eventually flush it down the drain.

I do not see any of Google's policies that would prohibit shipping our products from an Amazon warehouse.

Please remember as, with all policies in the world, it's always based on the interpretation of the policy. This allows the policy claimer to still do whatever they want. IE: Google. And also never take a policy litteral, word by word. Not because you do not see directly it saying drop shipping is not allowed, means its ok.

 

Please note my feedback is from experience and by no means am I saying you have to stop. Just informing you what can happen. I do a better service in being honest, then letting people make big mistakes.

 

Google Shopping, requires you to stock your own products, ie: in your warehouse. Not someone else's. The reason is that your sales are reliant on 3rd party. While if you stock your own products, the sales are reliant on first party. And Google wants to improve its services to ensure that products are available and continue to use Google Shopping. Hence the reason all items must be stocked.

 

Here is the quote relevant to drop shipping:

 

 Promising products or promotional offers that aren’t available for users

  • Examples: Promoting products that are not stocked, promoting a deal that is no longer active, call-to-action in promotion that isn't easily achievable from the landing page
    See the feed specification attributes on availability and price for specific guidelines to comply with this policy

We are not drop shipping. We make and distribute the products. We just distribute them from an Amazon warehouse. We are not buying them from Amazon. We own them and sell them. We are just using Amazon's warehouse as a fulfillment center. That situation is exactly what Shopify's Amazon fulfillment integration is for and the example you quoted is in no way relevant to us or our situation.
