I see that shipping profiles have recently been added to Shopify. This enable us to assign orders from EU customers to our EU 3PL and orders from US customers to our US 3PL. We have set up both EU & US 3PL locations in our settings.
When a customer creates an order, I can see the location ID in the top right of the order summary. I have asked both 3PLs if they can read that location ID field. However, the feedback that I get is that they cannot get this info via the order API. The goal is that they only fulfill the items where they are assigned as the location.
How can we solve this so we can redirect orders to the right 3PL? Is this possible? If so, can you share the API documentation that I can share with our 3PLs?
Hey @Mettes ,
Your EU and US 3PL companies should already be subscribed to the webhook topic of "fulfillment/create" in order to be notified whenever Shopify automatically creates a new fulfillment request for them to complete. Within the payload of the webhook event for a fulfillment creation, the "location_id" property of the order summary should be present. So your EU and US 3PL just need to look at the "location_id" property of the order that comes in for the "fulfillment/create" webhook topic, and from this "location_id" the order can be redirected to the right 3PL.
Here is the documentation for webhooks: https://help.shopify.com/en/api/reference/events/webhook (Go to "Fulfillment" and click 'View Response' to see the "location_id" property in the webhook payload)
