What is the difference of unpublished product & draft product?

I find it quite confusing in the API doc - Create a new unpublished product and Create a new draft product

What is the relationship between published, status, published_scope when creating or updating a product?

I believe that a draft product technically doesn't exist in inventory, whereas published status indicates an item that is defined in inventory but can be listed (or not listed) on various sales channels. For example, Shopify's e-com, Shopify POS, Facebook, Amazon, etc.
