360/Spinning Product Viewer Options?

As far as I can tell there are two different ways to go about setting this up and neither of them really seem ideal.

1. You can use this app and it takes whatever string of rotating photos you have in your image gallery for that product and turns them into a spinning animation. This is cool but then you can no longer have stills of the product as separate images, not cool.

2. You can use a service like this that allows you to paste the code for the spinning image anywhere into your product page but then it lives separate from your actual image gallery.

Is there anyway or an app or service that brings the best of both together? I'd like to be able to have the first image in the gallery be the spinning/360 image and then still have the still images behind it. Or maybe someone has some creative way they've worked around this?

You can display 360 spins and other product images with the Magic Zoom Plus app:

https://apps.shopify.com/magic-zoom-plus

After installing the free trial, the app will zoom and enlarge your product images with a very elegant effect.

The app also makes it easy to add 360 spins to the product page. Just upload your spins to Sirv (create a free account) and make sure they're named with the matching product ID for your product in Shopify. The spin will automatically appear on the correct page. You can make it the first image or one of the other images.

Okay I don't understand what this is "5. Upload your 360-degree spin images to the new folder." I'm going to be getting video of our products spinning. What exactly do I do with that? Just upload in the spot where the tutorial says to? You guys should be a little more clear.

Can I use this video with the free trial to test this out? Or do I have get the subscription to "Convert video to spin" as it says on the pricing page.

I don't think this is as confusing as you are making it and you guys are probably scaring a lot of potential customers away.

You can still have separate images you just have to store and retrieve them differently , such as in the product description.

And or update the theme to prevent the 360 app or service from using the stills.

There's also the option of using CSSandorJS to do sleight of hand to make the 360 gallery only be visually first.

There's also customizing it DIY or using open source libraries like https://github.com/scaleflex/js-cloudimage-360-view.

There's also just making using 3D models of your product or using the 3D warehouse feature if your customers are current gen iphone users.

To create a 360 spin from a video, upload the video to your Sirv account, then right-click it and choose "Convert to spin". Choose the number of images for your spin, then it will be created. Use your video - it'll work with the free trial. Example and instructions here.

Thanks for the feedback about that. Most users have photos instead of videos, so our standard instructions assume photos are being used. We'll look at improving the instructions.

Is there a way to make my spins the first image that loads? It also says I can change the 360 icon but I can't find any directions on how to do that... I'm testing it out here if you can take a look. https://www.outdooredge.com/products/spin-test

To make the spin the first image that loads, go to your Magic Zoom Plus app settings page. In the "360 spins" section, set Spin position to "First".

To change the icon (SirvIcon.png):

1. Design your own icon and save it as: SirvIcon.png.

2. Upload your new icon to the Assets section of your Shopify store by going to:

Shopify Dashboard > Online store > Themes > Actions > Edit code > Assets

3. Click 'Add a new asset' and browse your computer to find the new SirvIcon.png file

4. Use the 'Replace existing' button.
