Android Facebook App "Buy" button not working when shared

Hi!

 

I've setup my Shopify Lite and integrated it with Facebook. You can see it here:

However, when I share this product anywhere (my profile or any page) the "Buy" button does not work on the Android Facebook app. It appears to work from the Web and from iOS.

That Buy button works on iOS and the Web. But not on the Android Facebook App. Some people are talking about it in the comments of this post.

 

Is it possible this is due to the page being new and not having many likes?

It might also be helpful to know that the "Buy" button had the same problem when I was trying out the Facebook integrated shopping cart. I thought switching to Shopify might solve the problem. But it didn't.

Hello sagerock, did you find a solution ?

I have the exact same problem : my "buy" button on Facebook doesn't work on Android but seems to work on iOS and web :/

Hi,

 

Has anyone got an answer to this yet?, I am having the same problem no-one can buy from any of our product posts as the buy button is grayed out.

I'm worried this will affect business as a lot of potential customers with be using android devices

I'm just not using this "Buy" button for my post (which is really sad but I prefer this than a button that is not working)

Hi,

 

Thanks for the reply, I don't think it is just the button with mine as I can't click on any of the post at all if I have shared a new product from the shop. If I create  a post outside the product creation it works ok but of course you lose the official look with the buy button etc. unless you are using IOS or a PC that is.

I'm having the exact same issue - I can't believe this was first raised in August with still no reply from Shopify?!! 

 

I've tested with tonnes of people and IOS works but Android buy button doesn't work. I can see from my stats that I've had a tonne of drop off at this point and it is super frustrating!!!!

 

Any ideas are really welcome!!!

Hi everyone, 

 

Nick here from Shopify. Thanks, @jennyccook for bringing this post to our attention so we can address it, it's very much appreciated and hopefully it can help not only the store owners in this thread but any others who come across this going forward. 

 

This is something related to the way the Buy Button is currently set up. Our developers are aware of an issue when using the Direct to Checkout option, specifically with Open pop-up window option selected under "Advanced Settings". Essentially, most in app browsers (such as Instagram and Facebook) do not support the popup window.

 

Luckily, there are a few workaround options in this case. One option would be to re-create the Buy Button and change the checkout behavior of the Buy Button to Redirect in the same tab, as outlined in the guide for Creating a Buy Button which you can see here. You can see the screenshot where this is highlighted specifically in the guide below:

Another workaround would be to change the "Action when people click" from Direct to checkout to Add product to cart.

 

A shout out to our higher-level support team for discovering and testing both of these options in their test stores where they both appear to work! Please give either of those options a try and let us know if they work for you. If you are still noticing the issue after making the change, please let us know in a reply here and we can take a closer look.
