Yes it makes the chat look messier
I've been trying to get rid of it too. Also.. now, I can't send text receipts to my customers via the POS system. I wonder if this is related.. Hopefully, Shopify can figure this out soon.
I don't have an answer but I also don't like that.
Also, why does it flag that little red circle like indicating a message - as a consumer I find that annoying.

I have the same issue, although I have Shopify Ping open on my tablet/phone this message is displayed, saying that I am not available...
