Why does the Digital Downloads App only allow one download at checkout?

I have a question regarding the Digital Downloads App. I've installed it and added my digital files. However, if I go into the store, and add more than one digital product to my cart. It will only give me an option to download the last item in my cart once I check out. It lists all of them, but doesn't give me an option to download all of them, just one. The email confirmation also only sends me a link to download one of the items in my cart but not all... Is there a way around this at all? If not surely the app isn't much use?
