Recurring charge expired

Hello,

From Shopify partner account I can see from the log, for a specific retailer the Recurring charge was activated first, then few hours later it got expired.

What could be the reason for that? Also how it can be reactivated?

Thanks

hey jumayel,

i've experienced this too. here's the deal, according to shopify:

  • each time your user visits the charge authentication page, a new charge is instantiated
  • if the user bounces (does not explicitly "decline") the charge, it expires hours later
  • therefore, even if a user accepts a charge, they may have ignored it previously.
  • this means a user could have an active charge on their shop, while at the same time you'd see an expired charge in your dashboard

hope this makes sense!

Thanks for the detailed response.

I made some api requests to the recurrring application charge api with the charge id of the retailer and it shows that the charge is active. So I  think the log from shopify partner is misleading.

i agree! or at least, it should come with meta data. ie: charge ID 1234 expired, charge ID 2345 expired, and so on.

then you could check against whatever activated charge ID you have on hand, and more easiliy verify there isn't a bug.

good luck with everything!

Yes, you can always just check the recurring charges for the specific client with a simple API call.
However I don't thinkt hat a charge can expire in a few hours. It usually takes days for it to expire.
