Hallo all.

I like the native shopify review app because  it's clean and simple.

I wondered if i can use it to build a review page for my site.

I thought about creating a review page

like

page.review.liquid

and add this code

<div class="page-width">
  <div class="grid">
    <div class="grid__item medium-up--five-sixths medium-up--push-one-twelfth">
      <div class="section-header text-center">
        <h1>{{ page.title }}</h1>
      </div>

      <div class="rte">
        {{ page.content }}

------------------code for review app begin ------------------- <div id="shopify-product-reviews" data-id="{{product.id}}">{{ product.metafields.spr.reviews }}</div> -------------------------------end---------------------------
</div> {% include 'social-sharing' %} </div> </div> </div>

Somebody could help me out? is this possible to do?

I don't like to use the native comment feature because it ha no reply mechanism

Thanks in advance

Review data is stored in metafields so you can make a custom display.

As for responding to reviews https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/apps/apps-by-shopify/product-reviews/manage-reviews#reply-to-revi...

Otherwise making a threaded comment section with responses is not straightforward you either need to integrate another service or repurpose the blogs comment feature.

Caveat see this thread: https://community.shopify.com/c/Shopify-Discussion/How-do-I-respond-to-comments-on-blog-posts/td-p/5...
(you basically have to reply like a customer

Not impossible but unless you want to really dig into themes you would be better off with a different paid app that can import existing reviews.

This is an accepted solution.

Thanks for your reply. I did it. Very dirty but i did it.

As the rieview works only with the handle of the product i had to create a product to add the reviews.

So i created a product review without any prices descriptions. After that i created a custom product-template.

I cancelled all stuff i didn't need to showup on this special product page and combined the review product with the review product-template and the mess was done.

Right now i don't know what problem this will create but it works.

Maybe somebody has an idea how to make this less dirty ;). Also the url is not nice as it shows like a product.

Others can only take a look at cleaning if you provide something to look at.

Nice urls really only matter for ease of use , just make a redirect shopify.com/admin/redirects

Why do you think it's dirty? That actually looks pretty clean , loads fast and seems to progressively load.

Management wise i'm not sure about letting anyone write a review without registering even if you have to approve it.

If you want to take it further make a way to link to the products being reviewed either by auto matching in liquid ("this reviewer may be talking about product-X") or providing a way for reviewers to explicitly link into the product(dont allow external links it's a headache just strip them out)

UX deep polish (not critical) - "Proximo »try to place iconic|symbolic text such as "»" into it's own element,as an image or as a css pseudo element etc.

This way it doesn't need to be in the translations, and if someone uses google translate it doesn't get mangled into an double-quote character (Next One ").

For reference you can see an example of a reply to a review starting around page 8 (2020-06-04)
