Hi,

I develop an application for my company and I haven't access to their developer account.

When I click on the app store link to install the app and test it, it says "Not found"... A week ago, I was able to install it from the link...

How can I install the app ... ?

Thanks !

Hi Jordan,

Unpublished apps are no longer visible in Shopify App Strore. It has been changed recently. Now you have to know the app URL if you want to install an unpublished app. Let's assume the URL is https://unpublishedapp.com. In order to install the app you need to pass your store name as a parameter: https://unpublishedapp.com/?shop=bleuh.myshopify.com

Cheers,
Lukasz

Hi Lukasz,

I've tried this to no avail; the link from the "Edit Listing Page" is "https://apps.shopify.com/abc1",

I've also tried "https://apps.shopify.com/abc1/?shop=vdepot.myshopify.com",
"https://apps.shopify.com/abc1?shop=vdepot.myshopify.com",
"http://apps.shopify.com/abc1/?shop=vdepot.myshopify.com",
"http://apps.shopify.com/abc1?shop=vdepot.myshopify.com"

But nothing works.

Annoyingly, the edit listing page still clearly says

This means your app can't be browsed or searched for in the App Store. However, the listing can still be viewed by anyone with the URL (http://apps.shopify.com/abc1.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Jerome,

it's not about the app listing page URL. You need to know where the app is hosted. For example MetaFields Editor is hosted on Heroku at the URL https://metafieldseditor.herokuapp.com. You can install it from the Shopify App Store because it's already published, but you can as well install it navigating directly to:

https://metafieldseditor.herokuapp.com?shop=vdepot.myshopify.com

In fact this is what the Shopify App Store does when you click the Get button.

As for the message on the edit listing page - your are right, it's out of date and really misleading.

Hope that helps,
Lukasz

Cheers, Lukasz!

Yeah, I'd managed to find the issue in the end, but your posts were very helpful indeed. For anyone else, I'd recommend carefully reading Lukasz's posts, then checking https://ecommerce.shopify.com/c/shopify-apis-and-technology/t/beta-process-for-unpublished-in-develo... if you're still not sure about the new policy.

And Shopify - please update that message to read

"To distribute an unpublished App, please see https://ecommerce.shopify.com/c/shopify-apis-and-technology/t/beta-process-for-unpublished-in-develo...

rather than actively, as Lukasz puts it, "misleading" people.

Many thanks again!

Does this process still work? I am trying to install via https://unpublishedapp.com/?shop={shop.myshopify.com}

It redirects me to the app but then after that redirects to the admin page of shop.myshopify.com and gives me an error saying the page is not found?

I figured out what was wrong in case others come across this with a similar issue.

I was using the url listed in the app setup https://unlisted-app-url.com/ and passing the shop param like so https://unlistedappurl.com/?shop=dev-shop-url.com.

This wasn't working, it would redirect to my app but then quickly indicate page not found.

I installed through the partner dashboard on my dev store (using the install on development store link) with the network tab open on chrome and saw the GET request is actually https://unlistedappurl.com/auth?shop=dev-shop-url.com

So in case anyone else runs into this problem you are possibly missing the auth bit (my app is using koa-shopify-auth package). Hope that helps.
