What apps would you recommend for someone who has recently opened a shopify store - am interested in free apps as well as low priced apps.

Printout Designer makes your business documents stand out and they can be created easily without wasting countless hours. Customize your print-out templates with your browser-based editor. Save them, share them with your co-workers and modify if necessary. This way you are able to speed up the printout creating process. And, bulk-printing opportunity helps to save even more time.

I like Power Tools: http://apps.shopify.com/power-tools-bulk-edit-tags

It saves so much time updating tags for our collections.

This app is free but there is a range of other Power Tools apps too, I use all of them. They have saved me SO much time and frustration.

I'm definitely biased, but I'm the developer for Retention Factory:

https://apps.shopify.com/retention-factory

It's free for shops with up to 30 orders a month and it automatically keeps in touch with past customers.

We write software to improve customer retention and repeat purchases

Like Tim, I am biased, but I think you should check out Recommendify (I am the developer). It is an app that lets you display Amazon-style product recommendations to customers while they browse your store. It is free for shops with fewer than 50 products.

Best of luck with your store.

If you feel a bit overwhelmed by all the Apps, please see the eBook "All the Shopify Apps", where all 411 apps are listed and categorized into any of  26 functions. It's a great, easy-reference, resource for any Shopify store owner.

Eve! Wow, that's dedication! Keeping that book up to date is going to be no mean feat. I struggled so much to get my own shortlist "complete", what with all the incremental Shopify changes and new apps popping up, that I decided to create an ongoing Blog: http://tricky3.co.uk/essential-apps -- By doing that I can curate the list or Articles/apps and constantly (re)edit the information pertaining to each app as things evolve (as much for my own reference as anyone else's, but everyone is welcome:)

Definitely check out Concierge.  Product recommendations by emails.

App page >> https://apps.shopify.com/concierge

Product page >> https://concierge.sendicate.net/

Concierge is brand new but already has 100 installs and sold 70 products so far.  All the reviews have been amazing and people really love the app.  Just turn it on and watch the sales start coming in.  Its also free!

I'm the developer so please let me know if you have any feedback.

Low Inventory Alerts by email. It is reasonably priced at $2.50 per month. It also has great reviews from satisfied storeowners.

You don't want to be scrambling to re-order products after they are sold out. You can set a minimum inventory level for your entire store and you will get an email when any of the products' inventory go below that level. You can also set different thresholds for individual products.  It does one thing and does that one thing really well!

Highly recommend it regardless of the size of your store.

Disclaimer: I'm the app developer so I'm biased like my counterparts here!
