Activity Log

Is there an audit log available for each user? It's difficult to figure out which user made specific changes to the store right now without the log.

I saw two other people try to ask this question in 2013 and their topics were just closed without any explanation:

Yes there is, sort of. It doesn't log every little change, but you can see some things logged at /admin/activity

Thanks for pointing out that out. Where do you access that in the dashboard?

From the admin home, the Activity box in the right sidebar, there's a link to 'View all recent activity'.

Thanks. It's odd they designed it to make it so out of the way.

I saw that those posts were closed without any explanation as well.

When you work for a development company that is working on the theme for a client, you want to see activity logs more relevant to the theming of the site. If the client decides to fuddle around and messes something up, I want that to be reflected in some logs somewhere. It appears that only very high level activity is currently being tracked... i.e. A new product was added, etc.

Are there any plans for showing more detailed logs, like... Which user made changes to the "Featured Products" section? Thanks.

Is there any update to this - I require knowlage of whos doing what to the site such as:

  • adding/removing/editing products
  • adding/removing/editing customers
  • importing/exporting products
  • importing/exporting orders
  • importing/exporting customers
  • editing themes
  • installing/unstalling apps
  • altering app settings
  • updating apps
  • making changes to the site settings

For companys that have many people working on a site its good to track whos doing what and if an issue arises then we know what areas to concentrate on when it comes to solving it and who to speak to.

This will then hopfully reduce the support calls to shopify as many of my calls would have been solved by knowing who had done what.

We have recently released Logify which can essentially logs different activities in your shop. You can track 3 different kind of logs:

  1. Admin Logs
Includes logs related to product, customer, fulfillment, order etc.
  2. Asset and theme logs
Includes logs related to files in your themse and when they were modified
  3. Important event logs
Important events happing across your shop

We have made efforts to make searching logs easier. Search by different parameters to get what you want. There is a free trial of 7 days to try it.

Install Logify now and never miss an important update. We welcome feedbacks and feature requests ;)

Did you ever find a solution to this James?

I'm tasked with implementing something similar, but we only care about product creation/modification.

My sense is to create a webhook for the action I want, but after glancing at the product creation/modification webhook, it doesn't seem to include which staff member was responsible for creating/modifying. If that's recorded in some API endpoint somewhere, I can just query that I guess. About to look into it all.
