Add A Check box to Checkout or Cart

Hello, I would like to add an option that can be ticked, that would be shown upon checkout or in the cart. I am using the minimal theme.

My option at the moment is asking customers to write in the note section that yes they would like the free item added but it is not ideal.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Jess    EDIT After more looking I did discover the adding a gift wrapping service option thing that is created quite easily with a snippit except am not sure if it is suitable because I don't want to charge for the item or offer it to everyone, I just want to offer it as a free extra on orders of over a certain amount

Hey Jess!

There is a guide on how to add an Agree to Terms checkbox on the cart page, this would be pretty close to what you've asked for:

You can edit the message beside the checkbox completely, so, I really think this would work for you! I hope this helps :)

My edit above is still valid with your solution, in that I only want to give the item free to orders over a certain amount and even then only if they wish to receive it. Hence the idea of a check box.

It seems that after following the step by step on this post. I am able to still checkout even with out ticking the box? Is there anyway to ensure that customers cannot get to the checkout without ticking the box?

Hi H,

 

I hope you can help me, please. I tried doing that step and I also tried doing the steps from this link https://community.shopify.com/c/Shopify-Design/Cart-Add-an-Agree-to-terms-and-conditions-checkbox/m-..., under Sectioned Themes.

I was successful in adding the checkbox, but when I tested it, it's not letting me go past the checkout page even after ticking the checkbox. It still says I need to tick the checkbox even after doing so. What I did was, I went back to all the steps I followed from the link before and now I can't remove the checkbox (I want to remove it for now because when I tried using it, it's letting me continue to checkout even when it's not ticked).

I went to Layout, Templates, Sections, and Assets and removed the codes I added there, but I still see the checkbox on the website. Please see below. I want to remove that and start over again, please.
