Hi @jason, I love this extension and I use it almost every day!

I have a question, I want to create custom fields for product variants but I can't find the instructions in the pdf and I can get them to work, maybe I'm doing something wrong.

I'm adding this code in the product.liquid template

{% if product.metafields.c_f.past_season %}
{{ product.metafields.c_f.past_season }}
{% endif %}

I can't see the custom field in the product editor or the variant editor. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

FYI, the Custom Fields are no longer loading in the [c] Collection or [v] Variants views, as of last week. Some Shopify UI changes seem to have killed it. Jason, any hope of a fix soon? Thank you!

@k&j, or anyone else in a punch with the update...

Our metafields app and chrome extension still work after the update. If you install our app, you can manage your existing metafields for free. The field types are basic in that case though.

Install the app, then turn on "other metafields" in the settings section. Install our chrome plugin and you should be good to go. https://apps.shopify.com/custom-fields-2

@John, we've tried using the Bonify app/extension, and our problem is mainly a usability one for our clients: Neither the Bonify app or extension show empty metafields. They only show the metafields for that Collection or Product that have already been filled in. Consequently, it requires our clients to know all of the namespace and key combinations and enter them each time themselves, and it just doesn't work for them usability-wise.

If Bonify had a way to specify that all custom fields with a given namespace should appear on a given Shopify admin page type, even if blank, then it would work for us. Without this being addressed, it's not easily viable to change from using FD to Bonify.

Here's a visual comparison for the large difference in usability for metafields with custom namespaces between FD Custom Fields and Bonify Custom Fields

FD Custom Fields extension (clear UI of fields available with instructions):

Bonify Custom Fields Extension (no indication of what fields are available, only an option to create from scratch):

Soon is relative but there's some effort needed this time round. ShopifyFD is likely to get the love first as it just has the larger user base. Then we can flow onto Custom Fields. Some context on that here:
