Adding a Text Box for product customization

I'm looking to add a required text box on my product page so customers can have the option to do custom labels on my site. 

Something here in the highlighted space would be great.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately this doesn't work. I tried to do
the steps but the text box never popped up. Also, people who were
successful weren't able to get the info that was typed into the box.
