Add this to the bottom of your theme.scss.liquid where the url is your path for your image, this is just a seamless texture example:

body {
    background: url(https://www.toptal.com/designers/subtlepatterns/patterns/fishnets-and-hearts.png);
}

Thanks Ninthony, that did work! So how would I change the code so that I can use a specific image?

This is an accepted solution.

All you have to do is upload the image to the Shopify CDN. Go to settings in the bottom left, then click files (paperclip icon). You should be able to upload a file there, then it will provide you a link. Copy that link and put it between the parenthesis after url. It will look something like:

body {
background: url(https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0561/0261/files/your-file.jpg);
}

Hello, I am using the Brooklyn theme and I cannot seem to add a background image. Here is my coding I inserted at he end of theme.scss.liquid:

body {
background: url(https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0296/0198/8741/files/image.png?v=1578633097);
}

I put the image url that I had uploaded onto files and nothing has changed at all. Any tips? Thank you
