Automatically adding a gift (instead of a discount) when a discount code is entered

Trying to find a way (using an app or not) that will allow us to automatically add a free gift to the customers cart when they enter a discount code. 

This will allow us to see exactly where the customer has been referred from in order to supply the influencer with a commission on the sale.

The gift i wish to give them is not always going to be one of our products that we sell so i dont want the customer to have to add the gift to cart in an otherwise simple BXGY.

Customers buys X --->  Customer enters code (that referer has given them)-----> Customer automatically gets a free gift added to their cart

I know that this is doable in Shopify Plus - But the cost is $2000/ month for Shopify Plus

We actually are currently migrating over to Shopify Plus. Do you know how to accomplish the automatic gift on plus?

I think it was a third-part app, and it's included in the Fee.
