Is there any way to make the hero slideshow scroll vertically instead of horizontally?

I have taken a dive into the .liquid for the slideshow and can't seem to see anywhere to make the edits to affect the direction of the scroll for images.

If possible it would also be great to have it touch still be touch responsive scroll for mobile also.
