I am currently using Narrative because I like the way it presents the collection pages. Would it work if I copied parts of the Brooklyn theme so that I can use its product page layout?
You will need to copy both the liquid and css files, you have to be very careful to not mess up your store though.

No, parts of brooklyn theme will not work on narrative theme as both themes have different design formats and different css codes.
