Cart attributes/notes not saving

Hello Shopifyers, I'm trying to capture and save a purchase order number on the check out page of a client's store but it never seems to save. The Liquid code is as follows:

If you have a purchase order number, please enter it here: <input name="attributes[purchase_order]" id="purchase_order" value="{{ cart.attributes.purchase_order }}" type="text" />
It's based on the instructions from http://jadedpixel.com/2006/8/18/attach-notes and the wiki. You can see the dev shop at http://teachingtourism.myshopify.com/ I'd be grateful for any words of wisdom or insight. Thanks, Alex

Beautiful site. Good use of sIFR.

Why not use cart.note? Cart.attributes is a per cart item information.

I tried cart notes, also with no avail. Plus, I like that customers will get a preview that says

purchaser_order: 1234

@bill – I don’t follow. The value of the attribute is a string. I have a feeling I’m missing something obvious.

Alex Duane,

I looked into it and the reproducible problem i found was that if i typed some text into the promo code box and hit update that it would not appear after the reload. I found that this was a bug with our caching code and tweaked it. Update works now.

This also means that the attachments were actually saved, they just weren’t displayed in the roundtrip. I hope this helps.

I wish that, whenever someone asked a question, somebody from shopify would response quickly like what Tobi does… So our time would not get wasted… and it make us feel that we’re not alone.
