Change my logo link

Hi there,

I would like to change the link of my logo.
I'm using the brooklyn theme, when you click on the logo it is currently sending you to the home page but I would like it to link to an external URL.
I tried few things but so far nothing worked.
Can someone tell me what code do I have to use and where do I have to place it exactly?

Many thanks in advance!!
Victoria

Hey Victoria!

If you go into your Brooklyn theme's HTML/CSS editor, in the 'theme.liquid' file, you may see the following code around lines 201-210:

<a href="/" itemprop="url" class="site-header__logo-link{% if settings.logo_use_inverted %} logo--has-inverted{% endif %}">
                    <img src="{{ 'logo.png' | asset_url }}" alt="{{ shop.name }}" itemprop="logo">
                  </a>
                  {% if settings.logo_use_inverted %}
                    <a href="/" itemprop="url" class="logo--inverted">
                      <img src="{{ 'logo-inverted.png' | asset_url }}" alt="{{ shop.name }}" itemprop="logo">
                    </a>
                  {% endif %}
                {% else %}
                  <a href="/" itemprop="url">{{ shop.name }}</a>

You would just need to edit the three instances (e.g. they may be on lines 201, 205, and 210) of href="/" so that the forward slash (/) is the site you want to link to from your top logo.

For example, if you were linking to Shopify.com, it might look something like this:

<a href="https://www.shopify.com" itemprop="url" class="site-header__logo-link{% if settings.logo_use_inverted %} logo--has-inverted{% endif %}">
                    <img src="{{ 'logo.png' | asset_url }}" alt="{{ shop.name }}" itemprop="logo">
                  </a>
                  {% if settings.logo_use_inverted %}
                    <a href="https://www.shopify.com" itemprop="url" class="logo--inverted">
                      <img src="{{ 'logo-inverted.png' | asset_url }}" alt="{{ shop.name }}" itemprop="logo">
                    </a>
                  {% endif %}
                {% else %}
                  <a href="https://www.shopify.com/" itemprop="url">{{ shop.name }}</a>

Hope this helps :)

Hello,

I am trying to do the same with my Minimal Theme. I want my logo to be linked to my landing page for now. I went to my theme.liquid and edited the / as you mentioned before and added http://www.dresspositive.com/pages/landing-page

I could only find 2 slashes, not 3 and it is not working

Thanks

Marta

@Marta - This thread is talking about the Brooklyn theme. Since you are using Minimal you won't be able to use the same code / instructions. Looking at your site it does appear as if you've figured it out in any case, as the logo does link to your landing page.

Thanks a lot. Yes I figurred it out.

I am now dealing with another issue. When I type www.dresspositive.com I cannot see my landing page unless I click on the navigation or the logo. How can I sort this out?

Thanks

Hey Marta!

It looks like the home page of your shop is including the wrong page from your Online Store > Pages area. You can choose a different page to feature on your homepage if you go to Online Store > Themes, click 'Customize theme' at the top right, and go to the 'Homepage - Featured Content' section.

The above may not completely solve the problem, however. Your page called 'Landing page' looks to be using a different page template (which can be found in the HTML/CSS editor, in the Templates folder). This template is currently including the page content/text, instead of the page itself. I would recommend keeping the page content within the page (in Online Store > Pages) instead of the page template - which is meant more for the look and feel of the page.

If you have any questions about this, please reach out to us at support@shopify.com or call/chat in from the links on the following page: https://docs.shopify.com/support

Cheers :)

Thanks! noted.

I am only linking my landing page to a new template page.landingpage.liquid because I do not see how to add content in my content area (add page...content) and keep it nice.

If I add content then I do not see how to have those sentences centered. Sorry I don't think I am making myself too clear. I will try.

If you check out my website. My frontpage www.dresspositive.com has only "coming very soon" as content (but I really would like it to be like the content shown on my navigation or my logo). Unfortunately I tried to add that content on my frontpage content area but the design does not look nice.

It does not look good on my desktop but neither on my mobile theme. How can I make both look nice just using the content area? My mobile theme is never centered when I work on my desktop theme.

The ideal for me would be to have the 3 sentences "We are coming very soon!!...disadvantaged societies" look as they look when you click on the navigation menu or the logo.

Also, how can I unbold my navigation menu? It is unbold in the frontpage but bold otherwise.

Thanks

Marta

Hey again, Marta!

It could be that your theme has custom code that is causing issues with regard to your page content, desktop/mobile layout, home page, and navigation menu.

If you contact Shopify Support, we can help you revert to a fresh version of your theme, which may solve at least some of these issues. We can also try to help you get the alignment you're looking for in the page you're working on, and place its content onto your homepage.

Cheers :)

Hi,

I'd like to alter my logo hyperlink to link to my WP site on the primary domain (shopify store is on the subdomain).

Is the only way via liquid, or is there a backend menu option to accomplish this?
If former is the only way - would it be different to Brooklyn theme above?
Thx!

Hi Bradford :)

Unless your theme has an option for this in the 'Header' section of the theme customizer, it may only be editable in the liquid/code.

If you have a Shopify supported theme, it's likely in the theme.liquid file of your theme's HTML/CSS area. Here, you can search for things like 'header' or 'logo' to find the right code to change. Once there, the above instructions may help you. Feel free to reach out to Shopify if you are having trouble - we might be able to either help you find the spot or make the change for you.

If you are using a third party theme, there is still a good chance you'll find the code in the theme.liquid file, but sometimes a separate file, or code 'snippet', is referenced from the theme.liquid file for the header section (e.g. where the logo link can be edited). It might be best to reach out to your theme's developers if you have trouble making the change.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers,
Jordan
