Hello,
I'm trying to change the generic "/collections" in my URLs to something a little more user- and SEO-friendly. In my case, I'd like to use /health or /supplement so that my URLs read ...com/health/hair/products... but I can't find a straight answer from Shopify on how to do that.
Does any know a way to make this change?
Hello Carlos, I can certainly get you an answer on this one.
We don't allow adjusting the basic structure of the URL, it will always live at /collection or pages under /pages and so on. You can create sub categories with these specific keywords but the main category will always semantically refer to the collection.
Try to create redirects using /category that then go to /collections
https://docs.shopify.com/manual/your-website/navigation/url-redirect
There are apps for this as well: https://apps.shopify.com/traffic-control-bulk-redirects
Another fix is to use those urls (shop.com/category/foo) anyway and adjust your 404 page to do javascript redirects by replacing /category/ with collection
Finally
Make a feature request: let shopify url fragments like /collection , /pages ,/articles be translatable or mass redirectable, for example /collection
Why does shopify us ethe word colllections
It just makes websiste look so low class and identifies the web own as using shopify so lowering value
Liek why couldnt you just use CATEGORY?
Collections make it looks so low like a mom and pop shop
