Changing item to "sold out" when item is sold out

Hello all, 

I am using the Debut theme & have already coded out my prices from the website. I have run a few test orders & items are not marking the pictures as "sold out" on the collections page. Instead, you have to click on the item for it to show "sold out".  How do I go about coding that in, all the solutions I have seen are either outdated or don't seem to help.
