I had such good luck in getting help last time, I'm going to try this again.
I have the Trademark theme going with the full size slides, but, they are HUGE. Wondering how I can make the slides shorter/smaller. There was a piece of code I saw when I googled on this - something about .hero blah blah and I think I tried pasting that to the bottom but it didn't work (or I didn't do it right.)
Here's the preview of the site - images are way huge. I can make them more horizontal if I can just shorten them.

This is an accepted solution.
I would start by formatting the aspect ratio of the images first, you might not need to edit the code.
For example, this image is a large rectangle:
Here's what I would do:
1) Crop the images to a more wider aspect (maybe 1200px x 500px).
2) Duplicate your live theme then work off the backup theme to test.
3) Load the images in this duplicate theme then preview and see how it looks.
4) If it's fixed, boom you're all set. If not, you'll want to look inspect the slider elements and adjust the CSS (this post shows you how to do this: How to Safely Edit Your Shopify Theme).
Side note: Make sure you compress your images before uploading them. Even if you have an image optimization app, they can't reach the Customize Theme section. Here's how to manually compress (making load speed faster) without losing resolution: How to Compress Images on Shopify.
