Customer Account Activation

Hello guys!

I am currently setting up a new shop and if a new customer makes a new account, he instantly gets the Customer Account confirmation, but not the activation.

Does this depend on the theme? (SIMPLE theme)

In the custommer account settings I have set that customer accounts are optional.

Hi Jason, I'm not clear with what is going on:

instantly gets the Customer Account confirmation, but not the activation.

Thanks for your reply Jamie!

The issue is that if a new customer fills out the new user account form and sends it, he instantly gets an an confirmation that his new account was set up.

But before he/she gets this confirmation, he should first get the account activation email where he/she has to confirm a link to get his new account.

The steps should be:

1. sign up for a new account with name email password etc.

2. get an email with a confirmation link (this email isn't sent - thats the problem :)

3. get an email with the confirmation of the account

I hope I could make it a bit clearer :)

In your test shop I cannot create a new customer account. I can only proceed as a guest or log-in with existing login data.

Hello mates,

My shop is not public yet and I use the default launchpad14 theme.

Similar problem for me.

It has been working a few times. But now as soon as I create an account, I'm connected to this account immediately (it switches to the addresses page instantly) and the CONFIRMATION e-mail is sent to me. Not anymore the VALIDATION LINK e-mail first (Not sent at all). So weird.

Any explanation about that guys ?

Did you find a solution Jason ?

I'm also missing this functionality (minimal theme) - no account activation e-mails are sent. 'Create an account' asks for name, email (entered ONCE) and password (entered ONCE!).   The vast majority of websites with account functionality ask to confirm all of that on account creation and send an e-mail confirmation to make sure it exists! :/  This is basic shop functionality! I've tested this on a few other shopify shops and none send me verifications or require e-mails or passwords to be input twice. What am I missing?
