Default Order Confirmation emails - Payment icons don't load

Hello.

In the default Order confirmation email it shows the customers payment method as an icon.

Liquid code as follows:
<img src="{{ transaction.payment_details.credit_card_company | downcase | replace: ' ', '-' | payment_type_img_url }}" class="customer-info__item-credit" height="24">

The payment_type_img_url filter returns an SVG file. SVG's are not supported in Gmail and a host of other email clients, with support around 60%.

Is there a way to load PNG's here instead? Or would we have to upload all the icons ourselves?

Thanks,

Ian.

What did you end up doing for this Ian? Legit issue. Setting up our store and just ran into this as well, though I am not yet sure how to tell this code to use an uploaded img.

Hi Rich,

Still waiting to resolve.

Whilst could load images from the theme - would ideally like to know the list of all available payment options so could have images for all the options. ( Believe the payment options change with Shopify payments based on the customers location).

Hopefully someone from Shopify can chime in - as really this is a issue their side.

Best.

Ian.
