Design of the order status page

Hello,

I have a simple question - is the design of the order status page the same for all stores.

Specifically, I am giving my clients a JS script to run on their order status page, and this script needs to use jQuery to pick out the order number on the page.

Will I always find the order number inside <span class="os-order-number"> on all stores, or will it sometimes be different for some stores?

Thanks,

Martin

Hi Martin,

Britton here with the Shopify support team.

That is correct! Unless a store is on Shopify Plus and has a custom checkout they will all have the same checkout html elements.

I hope that helps!

Hi Britton,

Thanks for that, it certainly does help!

One mroe quick question if possible - is a Shopify app able to detect whether a store is on Shopify Plus or regular Shopify, or would we need to ask the store owner?

Hi again Martin,

you would definitely need to ask the store owner to get information on what plan they are using. If they are on Plus they could also still be using the default cart, so be sure to ask about that too!

Hi Britton,

I actually have problem with different order status templates. I am working on new Shopfiy app and I realised that there are 2 different templates for order status:

1) https://checkout.shopify.com/7916811/checkouts/4370f6be7cdd50aaeb71a68556011d8d/thank_you?key=614570...

2) https://checkout.shopify.com/8485360/checkouts/af9963ae937e59a227ddb5e5a56360f9/thank_you?key=0ff1d5...

Number 1. seems to be common one I see on my client sites. Not sure why I am getting 2. template?

Both shops are dev. shops and using same theme.

On 2. template, I can't access OrderStatus JS object described here - https://help.shopify.com/themes/customization/order-status/order-status-javascript-asset

Do you have any idea about 2nd template? When/why does it shows?

Thanks,

Dom

Hey Dom -

That second one looks like the older checkout.

You can always pick the newer version since the line items are shown in a full height sidebar on the right. I'd assume that the only v1 checkouts floating around now are old dev accounts, with any new dev account automatically using the newer version. Design for #1.

Hi Dom,

All of the stores on Shopify should be using the new V2 checkout now. As Jason mentioned, old dev accounts might be exempted. It may be possible to get your dev account upgraded to the checkout V2, but you may also need to recreate the store. I would get in touch with the Shopify support team and they can advise you further on how to make the switch.
