Hi everyone, i need some help please, i have listed many products and when i look at the items within the store they have duplicated images, basically see the example below, this is the same item in different sizes, the image has been added for each variation and as a result every identical image is displayed when browsing the product

Hi, @fightco

Thank you for reaching out to the community about that. Have you assigned each size the same photo, or do you just have the one main photo added in so far in the product's page in your admin? If the photo doesn't need to change, then you should only need the one main image.

If you're still having trouble, I'd be happy to look into that for you. The link you've provided doesn't seem to work, is there another product that I could use an an example?

Hi, yes sorry the website propagation has just completed so the correct URL
is below, I have used a app to import all my products from my old magento
website, and in magento we had all the same image for each child product but
the system would only use the images from the parent product. However at the
moment the shopify system is using the images from every variation. In an
ideal scenario if the variation was colour then the other colour images
would be visible but with a size variation the images should not be
duplicated

Please see a few examples below

Hi, @fightco

I'm not seeing any duplicated images on those product pages - would you be able to send me a screenshot of where you're seeing those?

@Libba_Jones - if you'd like to pass along a link to your store I can take a look for you.

Thanks to you both!

Hi Brie,

This is my website, but it seems to have righted itself now. I am wondering if there was a time delay or if for some reason I wan working on 2 versions. Anyway my problem is sorted for the moment. Many thanks

I have this problem too. I can't seem to figure out how to reconcile duplicate images. If I export the files, clear the image column, and re-import them, it doesn't fix the issue. Is there a null value i could bulk import into the image column, so that i could follow up by bulk importing my images freshly? Like how can I just clear all those values so that I can replace them.

Hello @Brie ,

i am having the same issuse, since long and tried everything around... but no solution

https://www.magita.de/collections/sommerbettwaesche/products/eterea-renforce-baumwolle-bettwaesche-f...

all childs have indeed the same images assosicated in the position, and what happens they are getting uploaded twice on the shopify cdn...

variants where you see color/size = same just that you dont recognize that you are loading 4 times the same red color always with a different filename
filename
filename_hashcode1

we are uploading the data aswell via API / Channeladvisor, but sure how to solve this issue...

Brie,

I am having the same issue trying to import products. I have shirts with 6 sizes and 7 colors and when I import I am getting 7 images of each color in the left sidebar: https://a03fdz7jn5lskc03-24515425.shopifypreview.com/products_preview?preview_key=298a9cbf77504c2037...

Here is my product import sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1eGDR_KGqraxUPOvN09Rxzg6PSZUSGBRi5femXywnUGA/edit?usp=sharing

I have exported existing products and made the import sheet identical to no avail, any help is greatly appreciated.

Hey, @JoeyHering

Happy to look into this for you. Do you mind sharing screenshots instead of the preview links as they expire.

If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.

Dirk,

Thanks for the quick reply, here is our import sheet image setup: https://share.zight.com/DOuJ2ekN

Once imported we get this: https://share.zight.com/o0uOEyO4

We are getting multiple copies of the same color image

Gotcha. Did you create the csv yourself or have you worked off of Shopify's product CSV template?

Also, I assume you want the exact same photo to show for the athletic heather color shirt, when you cycle between the different sizes?

Yes we did an export of existing products from the site and duplicated the layout to match on the new products. We have double and tripled checked to make sure the sheets are identical in format but are still getting the duplicate images.

And yes we want the same color image to show as you cycle through the shirt sizes

Hey, @JoeyHering

Just wanted to confirm that you were able to resolve the issue? When I visit the product page I can see the variety of different variant images that are appropriately linked to each variant:

@JoeyHering

interesting we are pushing the images via API and recieving the same issuse, i seems that shopify has a problem with accepting the same image over and over, anyways we have a solution for that...
which was / is inside the template you are using e.g. we use archtypes templates
we use the ALT TAG of the image to connect the loose images to their variants, its something like
#farbe_weiss this way, we do this automatically via an function we have written inside our PIM system
https://www.magita.de/collections/jersey-spannbettlaken/products/eterea-extra-jersey-spannbettlaken-...

sadly, we still face issuse with variants 😉 which we hope to fix as soon as the variants limit his history
