Find all references of "word" in code

Hi,

does any one know of a way to find all references of a specific word in all the files of the template?

Ctrl+F, gives me a search, but only works on the file.liquid that I currently have opened.

Current state:

- Online Store -> Themes -> Actions -> Edit HTML/CSS -> Open any file, "index.liquid" for example -> Ctrl+F gives me a search on that particular file only.

What I need is to search all files, for that reference. instead of the only file that I have opened.

Open to any kind of suggestions, from shopify apps, kits, studios etc... I am currently testing the supply free template.

Usually I edit the theme on my computer so I can just do a search over all files I've synced in that theme. Are you just using the online theme editor at the moment?

Yes. After a litle bit of research, Slate seamed to be a good option. Synced files, work offline, push and pull , etc... hoping it has search options as well.

But I am working on Windows, and the instalation didn't go as smooth as I expected. Will try again next week. If it doesn't work, will try with another OS.

Is there other free alternatives to have more options, and control over the project, than theme editor and slate?!

I feel very limited with theme editor, not only in regards to "find all references".

It's been a while since I've used the windows box but I had success with theme kit. Slate is far newer however, and comes with more features. That would be the one to consider if you're just starting out.

I use a custom built tool here but echoes the logic in slate and theme kit.

There's other similar projects on github by third party devs if you're wanting to try a few options.

Testing vs code now. It has search in folders and files. So the find all references is kinda resolved.

Instalation is realy nice, works in most OS. Just needed to install this extensions:

- Liquid languages support;

- Shopify liquid templates snippets.

It takes 5 minutes to set everything up.

I still have to download the template manually, and load it up on vs code with "open folder".

Good: fast installation, syntax high light, find all references, same structure seen in theme kit.

Bad: haven't seen any kind of sync options (push, pull edited code), can't preview or debug any changes made.

So my solution is, use both... theme kit and vs code.

I did not managed to install slate on Win. Waiting for it to mature.

Hey guys,

Old post being resurrected here but was looking for something similar and have an online tool to share for those quick edits.

Has been a damn life saver!
