HTTP2 - will it be supported soon??

So HTTP2 is very soon going to be crawled by the Google bot and many browsers already support it. I've seen several examples where the use of HTTP2 has more than halved the page load time. As such this is a massive thing on both the user experience side of things and SEO. Will this be supported by Shopify anytime soon? (I am aware that both Chrome and Firefox only support HTTP2 when the page is loaded 'securely' over HTTPS and this is currently not available to most Shopify plans) You can see more info about HTTP2 here: http://searchengineland.com/everyone-moving-http2-236716?utm_campaign=socialflow&utm_source=twitter&... Cheers, Matthew

Has there been any updates on this? HTTP2 on Shopify would be amazing.

I recently came upon this post where a Shopify employee mentioned that SPDY would likely not be implemented since Google deprecated it in favor of the final ratification of HTTP/2. Also I found this blog post from Shopify on using SSL encryption everywhere although this article does not mention anything to do with the latest HTTP/2 standards.

Still this is no help as none of our HTTPS-enabled sites show up as HTTP/2-enabled at all.

I would love an update on this too. Something like this is what I’d expect as one of the IT/sysadmin benefits of having things hosted by Shopify vs deploying a site myself. Faster page loads are an obvious win for ecommerce conversion, and HTTP2 solves a lot of problems inherint in many Shopify setups, such as many different images and script files all being hosted from the same domain.

Anyone who agrees, please log in and press the “Upvote” button on Matthew’s original question above. (I don’t know why this is marked as “This post is outdated”?)

cdn.shopify.com is currently using http2 from what i can see.

Anyone have any idea when this switched over? Looking to A/B test before and after.

@Jordan L—reviewing cdn.shopify.com loads from my site, I’m seeing http/2 too (shows up as "h2" if you add "protocol" to the network view in chrome). Either this was turned on recently or I somehow missed it when I was reviewing things 2 weeks ago and it has been on much longer? :O

Regardless, this is good news—but still great question to try and identify when it happened. I’ll bug some folks to see if I can get a response.

Thanks, please let me know.

Trying to figure out how much it's affected my store, as I don't use cdn.shopify.com to host images, but 10 days ago my CDN for images also enabled http2, so trying to see what that, + cdn.shopify.com http2 has done to load times and conversions.

Nothing on engineering.shopify.com either, which I find strange for a change like this not to get anounced.
