How do I exclude certain products from the product recommendations (debut theme)?

Hello, 

Can anybody tell me if it is possible to exclude a specific product from the dynamic product recommendations on the debut theme?

One of my store products is a warranty which pops up as an upsell when another product is added to cart. The warranty keeps appearing in recommended products but I don't want it to be displayed as a product in its own right, if that makes sense.
