Hello,

I am working with the Debut theme and I would like to add a couple of custom icons in the footer content, however I cannot figure out a way to do this.

The rich text editor option seems to accept only text...

Any help with this would be much appreciated!

Hi Jasoliya,
I have added a Rich text editor container with the address of the physical store, and I would like to include a location icon before the address. The rich text editor option doesn't seem to accept anything other than text in the footer, right?

Yes, Rich text editor can not get icon, for that you have to add your icon html in liquid code file of Rich text.

You can find section->rich-text.liquid.

Hi, @stro!

This is May from Shopify.

In Debut, you can add plain text on your footer, however, this section is solely for text (i.e. it is not a rich text editor). @Jasoliya is correct that in order to add images or icons on your footer, you will need to edit your theme code, specifically your 'footer.liquid' file.

Before making any changes to your code, I highly recommend making a duplicate of your theme, to ensure that your customers aren’t affected by any unintended results. If you are not comfortable with making changes to your code, you can look into hiring a Shopify Expert. Alternatively, since you are using a theme made by Shopify, our theme specialists can look into making the change for you in accordance with our design policy. If you wish to explore this route, feel free to follow back up and we can continue on!

Best regards,

May.

Hi @May,

I have made some changes to the Debut theme already, would this break the developers' design policy?

Here is the preview link to the website: https://3386xhl5f8rf3h3u-6364528693.shopifypreview.com

In the "Come visit our stores" container, in the footer section, I would like to add a location icon (material design: location_on) before the first and second address. Do you think maybe it would be possible to add a rich text editor rather than a rich text feature in the footer to insert these icons?

Hi @stro

If you want to add location icon before "Come visit our stores" text then open section->footer.liquid and find {{ block.settings.text }} and add your icon code just before.

Hi, @stro!

I apologize for the delayed response. Thank you for sending over a link to your store preview. Your store looks beautiful! It looks like you were able to add the icons on besides the stores' locations. Were you able to add them by editing your theme code?

Generally, when a theme has been manually edited, it would fall outside of our design policy. However, it will depend on what your request is and what part of the code you have made changes to. If you aren't sure if your theme is supported, you can contact us directly, let us know your .myshopify.com URL and we'll be able to confirm.

If there is anything on your theme that we can look into, please let me know, or feel free to contact our 24/7 support for a more immediate response.

Hope you're having a great day!
