How to change spacing on homepage

Hey Guys,

I'm trying to keep the site nice and clean but there is too much white space between the different sections. I've read other posts and tried pasting codes that were offered to the theme.scss.liquid at the bottom but it has not changed anything.

Also, I'm not sure of my theme either - its just called "Updated Theme". How do I find this out?

I've attached a screenshot of the area that i'm trying to fix on my home page.

Hello There,

1. Go to Online Store->Theme->Edit code
2. Asset->/theme.scss.liquid->paste below code at the bottom of the file.
