How to hide my collection titles on Debut theme.

Hello, I would like to know how to hide debut theme's collection titles by editing the code since I've heard that was possible. I want to add my own image instead.

Hi Gustavs,

Nick here from Shopify.

This seems like it's something our theme support team could help you with if you're not quite sure how to do it yourself. Because you are using a Shopify developed theme in Debut, and have a paid plan, you would have 60 free design minutes and you could use them for this. Your best bet would be to reach out to our support team directly from the link here with some screenshots and examples ready to help you.

All the best. Nick

Thanks Nick, I believe that this is something that I can do myself and I'd like to save those 60 minutes for something more advanced than that. Please if you know something about how to do what I want to do, please share that. Thanks.

Hi Gustavs,

No problem at all. To edit out the collection titles you would need to take the following steps:

  • If you go to `collection-template.liquid`
  • file and wrap it in `{% comment %}` *code* `{% endcomment %}` tags
<div class="collection-hero__title-wrapper">
          <h1 class="collection-hero__title page-width">
            <span role="text">
              <span class="visually-hidden">{{ 'collections.general.collection_label' | t }}: </span>
              {{ collection.title }}
            </span>
          </h1>
        </div>

Alternatively, you could add

#shopify-section-collection-template .section-header h1 {
display: none;
}

to the bottom of your `theme.scss.liquid` file. Both of these options should work for you.

All the best, Nick

Hi Nick,

I know this is an old post, but I followed your instructions:

Alternatively, you could add

#shopify-section-collection-template .section-header h1 {display: none;
}

The title disappeared accordingly. However, I now want to get rid of the white space that is left behind. Can you let me know how to do this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @methuselah101,

No worries about posting on an old conversation thread.

Would you be able to share your store URL on the page where this happened and let me know what theme you are using and I can look into it for you. And just to confirm, do you want the title to go back or would you prefer to have it still gone and just to remove the white space? Without knowing some more details it's difficult to figure out exactly what to do here.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
