How to show stock level for each variant in DEBUT theme

Hey guys,

So I'm using the Debut theme, and while I've found some old chat threads on how to show stock numbers for products, they seem to be irrelevant as most are from 2017.

I want to be able to display stock levels on my products, and each product has variants. It seems the problem has been that the stock levels don't update when a new variant has been chosen. 

Can anyone help with this?
