I am looking for expert who can advise me on how to restore my website due to codes which I deleted in theme.scss.liquid.
Previously, I wanted to make my store to be scrollable hence I added new codes into the theme as advised by expert here. But I decided to restall it back to the previous format and deleted away the codes. Unfortunately it caused my store to become misfigured.
Can any experts here help?
My name is Ren from the Shopify support team and I can offer a bit of advice here. It sounds like you may want to try a couple of different steps to reverse or get your theme liquid back to the default state.
My first suggestion is to look at your theme code and try to revert back to a previous theme version. Head to Online Store > Themes > Actions > Edit code and select the theme liquid. Here you can click on older versions and revert back to previous backed-up copies of your theme that are created and timestamped based on when you made changes to the code.
If this doesn't work, my next suggestion would be to download a fresh copy of your theme from the theme store or developer. It may be a slower fix, especially if you were already making some customizations, but it doesn't cost anything to download a new copy of a theme you've already purchased. Keep in mind that you may only do so for the same store you initially purchased your theme for as per the allowance of your theme license.
A tip - in the future if you plan to play around and make changes to the theme code, always back up your current theme first by creating a duplicate copy. This link will take you to a help document that explains how to do that.
Also, be sure to check out the Shopify App store for various scroll functionalities you can add to your store. The nice thing about using an app is that they generally install themselves and you can access direct support from the developers if you run into any issues. I hope this has been helpful for you!
Please let me know if you have any questions on the steps above and how it works out.
Thanks for your helpful advice.
The codes that I previously added are right at the bottom so I thought it should be quite straight forward to just delete them away and I believe I have done it correctly. I didn't expect it to be so complicated.
Anyway I followed your instructions to go back to older versions and it didn't work as well.
Would you be able to log in to my store and check what the issue is?
My store URL is lavashop.co
Is this a third-party theme or a theme developed by Shopify? Did you try downloading a fresh copy? Coding falls outside of the scope of what I can support but if this is a theme developed by Shopify we can send it to our theme department for a closer look.
Hi @aft ,
No, you won't lose any product or any aspect of the product like images and text. You can change the theme anytime without it affecting your products.
Let me know if you need help with anything else.
I was looking at the wrong liquid. There was restore times, I tried each, even original and it didn't change the outcome. This is not my thing, I followed a tutorial to add the age verification. I was successful at that but the background was black and it looked like a porn site so I tried to add a picture. The first time it said there was already an asset named for the background pic jpg so i tried again.... second time it didn't say that and everything was messed up. I'm guessing I changed the wrong code. Please advise. The shopify expert I was chatting with ultimately declined the job
Thanks for reaching out. For this instance, I would recommend reverting back to your previous theme version before you made any changes to the code and utilizing one of our Apps for age verification.
As Advisors, we are unable to advise on how to code your theme so if at this time you decide not to go with an Expert, then an app is going to be your best option for an accurate and easy to apply method. You can see a list of our age verification apps here. Let me know how that goes!
