I've tested this on an unmodified, uncustomised Supply theme v9.2 (the latest version).
All products show a variant drop-down, even where there are not variants.
I found that this issue has been raised before, but seemingly not fixed.
The latest comment was "Default is hidden by javascript, so if visitor does not have Js it will show".
But I DO have js running!
Isn't it better hidden by Liquid code instead?
