Getting feedback on your store’s design is an important part of winning at eCommerce. Shopify has made it easier to share your store’s design progress with others, with the new “Share preview” feature.

It’s available for both current and unpublished themes, so you can share your store’s design before it’s live and your customers see it.

When previewing a theme, click on the “Share preview” button at the bottom right of the screen. You’ll then get a link that you can share with anyone you’d like to get feedback from. The link expires after 14 days so that you can be sure there are only current versions of your site being reviewed.

Hi Ty,

Couple of small things I've noticed this week working on sites:

1. Old method of sharing a theme preview url like https://mystore.myshopify.com/?preview_theme_id={{ theme.id }} is not as reliable as it was.  Seems to be dropping out of preview mode often - only happening this week since new preview bar arrived.  Kinda useful to us since it allows us to pass orders etc & view checkout if that's being modified (with Plus clients).  Personally I don't see a problem with this method of previewing - the link just needs to be more accessible.  It would be good if this continued to work as it did.

2. How does this work with domain specific resources?

Just looking at a demo store preview and it's showing an console error for Typekit and I'm guessing fonts are loading from my computer - since the domain's not whilelisted.

Do we then need to whilelist *.shopifypreview.com if using something with domain restrictions?  e.g. typekit or a Geo Api?

Cheers,

Joe

What's about a feature to share a preview of certain page, for example if I have done some development work in copied theme (in product page) and now I want to share preview of that theme and get url for direct product page.

For now when in product page I click on share preview it always gives an url to homepage.

to link to a single page/product/collection - you simply need to append the theme id query to the url like this:

e.g. https://www.mystore.com/collections/all/products/d144515?fts=0&preview_theme_id=38970884130

You can find the id in source code usually or right clicking the preview link on the theme editor.  That will load you what you want.

What still narks me about this whole change is that it is impossible now to preview an unpublished piece of content with an unpublished theme.  That sucks - we need that quite often.

We used to be able to give clients a direct link to preview unpublished content with an unpublished theme - no longer possible.  We need to publish the content which causes extra work to hide it from people.
